Courgette Shooting Star F1

Courgette seeds - Shooting Star F1.

British breeding brings the first climbing Yellow courgette. Has an upright, climbing habit that is well suited to growing in smaller gardens or containers. Grow against a trellis and tie the stems in regularly to help support the weight of the fruits. Both decorative and productive.

When harvesting please discard any bitter tasting fruits. We suggest carrying out a "tongue tip taste test", particularly when harvesting the first fruits from a new plant. For more information please click here.

Where to Sow Shooting Star Courgette Seeds

Sow seed on edge 1.5cm (1/2") deep to prevent rotting in pots or trays during April to May 2.5cm (1") apart under glass at 20°C (68°F) using good quality seed sowing compost.
Sow outdoors mid-May to June direct into growing site 1.5cm (1/2") deep 2 to 3 seeds in each position 60cm (24") apart.

What to do next

Greenhouse sowings should be gradually hardened off once they have developed the first pair of rough leaves and transplanted to growing site or containers in late-May to early-June 60cm (24") apart. Outdoor sowings should be thinned to one plant per station. As plants grow, tie into supports to help plants climb and support the weight of fruit.

Handy Tip

Regular picking produces a crop over many months. Pick fruits when young to maintain  a long cropping period.
