Herb Strawberry Sticks Annual

Strawberry Sticks is a highly atrractive dual purpose plant for both the herb and flower garden. It has a base branching habit, growing to about 40cm high. The light green leaves on the plant can be cooked and used like spinach. This is then followed by strawberry like fruits along the stems which are very tasty picked and eaten fresh.

When to Sow Strawberry Sticks Seeds

Late February to June.

Sow Inside

In pots or trays, in a greenhouse at 21-24°C, reducing to cooler temperature as the plants get bigger.  Germination will take up to 14 days. You will need to use a good seed sowing compost and ensure that the soil is kept moist.

Sow Outside

Once the soil has warmed in spring.  Use a good seed compost of moist well drained soil.  Ensure they have some sunlight though do not plant in full sun.

What to do next

Thin plants out to about 20-40cm.

When to transplant

When seedlings are large enough to handle, prick off into trays and grow on. Gradually harden off and plant out from the end of May onwards.

Harvest

Pick strawberry like fruits through to autumn.
