When to Sow Black Forest Ruby Dahlia Seeds

Sow February to April. Plant out from May to June.

Flowers

July to October

Where to Sow

Sow in trays of moist seed sowing compost and cover with a fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Place in a warm place and keep at a temperature of between 20-25°C.

What to do Next

When the seedlings are large enough to handle, prick off into trays 5cm (2") apart. As seedlings grow, transplant into 9cm (3.5") pots and gradually harden off before planting out in the flowering site from late May onwards. Space plants 45-60cm (18-24") apart.

Handy Tip

Use the dark foliage as a colour contrast in borders.
