Herb Creeping Thyme

Creeping Thyme is a culinary herb but it is also a beautiful flowering perennial. Once established it needs very little attention - a trim perhaps once or twice a year at the most - and, of course, you can use those trimmings in the kitchen. Creeping Thyme is a fragrant, carpeting plant which spreads rapidly to form a dark green mat of tiny leaves and pink-mauve flowers to create a lovely sight in June.
It goes well with chicken dishes to add that extra kick of flavour and can be used for flavouring stews, stuffings and sausages. Thyme tea with honey is soothing for coughs and sore throats.
Hardy Perennial
Height: 5cm, creeping habit.

Where to Sow Creeping Thyme Seeds

Sow the seeds inside in spring (from March to May). Sow in a seed tray of soil-less compost. Cover the tiny seeds with finely sieved compost. Keep at 20°C until germination. Prick out when large enough (from July to October) and grow on in small pots. Creeping thyme prefers light, well drained soil in full sun. Add lime if required.
