Alfalfa (Medicago sativa) is a hardy and deep rooting green manure. It grows around 1-1.5 metres tall and is a strong, deep rooted nitrogen fixer. It is good for a complete season (spring to autumn or summer to spring).
Use this to improve your soil fertility, increase the humus content, improve the structure of the soil or simply blanket the bare soil and suppress weed growth whilst the ground is not in use.
