Where to Sow Clara Aubergine Seeds

Space the seeds 2cm (1") apart in seed trays or two to a cell in modules under glass at 20°C. Cover lightly with compost. Germination takes place around 14 - 21 days from sowing.

What to do next

As soon as two full leaves have developed, prick off seedlings into individual pots. Grow on and plant in grow-bags or large pots. Plants can be transplanted outside in a sunny sheltered spot.

Harvest

Cut the fruit once they have reached approximately 10cm long. For best results, harvest while they are still shiny, as dull fruit can have a bitter taste when they are over-ripe. Clara Aubergines can be kept in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Handy Tip

Some support is beneficial. Watch out for the calyx, it can be prickly and painful.
