When to Winter Savory Seeds

Late spring.

Where to Sow

The site needs to have sandy soil and get planty of sunlight.  Press the seed into the soil and keep watered.  It germiantes better without a covering of soil.  Transplant when large enough.  Germination is rather erratic.

What to do next

Keep dead wood trimmed out.  Cuttings can be taken later on to raise more plants for the following year.

Harvest

The the young shoots and leaves can be picked any time.  The leaves are almost evergreen but not as pungent in winter.  It is best dried for winter use.  For drying, harvest just before flowering.

HANDY HINT

Dry by hanging the stems in the airing cupboard. When leaves are brittle, rub off into a bag.
