Where to Sow

Sow seed on the surface of a good free draining seed compost and lightly cover seeds with a fine sprinkling of vermiculite. Place in a propagator or a warm place at a temperature of 20-25°C until after germination which usually takes 10-21 days.

What to do Next

Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into pots or trays. Gradually acclimatise plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting out after all risk of frost has passed 15-30cm (6-12") apart in borders or containers.

Handy Tip

Impatiens grow well in full sun or part shade.
