When to Sow Sugar Star Phlox Seeds

February to April

Where to Sow

Sow seeds on to the surface of good free-draining seed compost and lightly cover the seed with a sprinkling of vermiculite. Place in a propagator or a warm place at a temperature of 18-20°C (64-68°F) until after germination which usually takes 10-21 days.

What to do Next

Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into pots or trays. Gradually acclimatise plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting out after all risk of frost has passed 23cm (9-12") apart. Seeds can also be sown outdoors where they are to flower. Sow 6cm (2 1/4") deep in rows 23cm (9-12") apart.

Flowers

June to September

Handy Tip

The long stems make this a long lasting cut flower.
