Where to Sow

Sow seeds on to the surface of good free-draining, seed compost and lightly cover the seed with a sprinkling of vermiculite. Place in a propagator or a warm place at a temperature of 18-20°C  until after germination which usually takes 10-21 days.

What to do Next

Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into pots or trays. Gradually acclimatise plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting out after all risk of frost has passed 23cm (9-12”) apart.
Phlox seeds can also be sown outdoors where they are to flower. Sow 6cm (1⁄4”) deep in rows 23cm (9”)  apart.

Handy Tip

With regular dead heading, Phlox will flower all summer in borders or containers.
