Sowing Your Runner Beans & Dwarf French Beans
25 April 2016This week you will need to start making your first sowing of Runner Beans and Dwarf French Beans.

You will need to sow the seeds into 9cm (3 1/2 inch) pots of multipurpose compost and place on the bench in a heated glasshouse or on a warm windowsill. This early sowing can then be moved into a cold frame once germinated, so the plants acclimatise gradually, before being planted outside towards the end of this month.

You will also need to be making a sowing outside direct into the Runner Bean Trench, as these will mature slightly later than those sown under glass. These are the first of at least 3 sowings you will need to be making over the coming weeks this year.
