Basket of Fire F1 is a compact bushy plant that makes it great for planting into hanging baskets and containers on the patio. The plant produces a beautiful display of small hot fruits. As the chilli peppers mature, they change colour from deep purple to cream and orange and then finally to bright red. They have a good tolerance to cold weather. These are hot Chilli peppers that have a rating of 80,000 SHU!

When to Sow Basket of Fire Chilli Pepper Seeds

February to April

Where to Sow

Sow seed on the surface of a free draining compost in pots or trays and cover with a fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite and place at a temperature 18-21°C until seeds germinate.

What to do next

Prick out seedlings when large enough to handle into 7cm (3in) pots and grow on underglass. Once plants reach 10cm (4in) high transplant into 15-25cm (6-10in) pots or hanging baskets and grow on a sunny patio . Feed once a week with tomato fertiliser once first fruits have set.

Late July to October

Handy Tip

Move containers and baskets outside to a patio once all risk of frost has passed. In autumn move back undercover to ripen any remaining fruits.
