Where to Sow

Sow 2 seeds into 9cm pots of moist seed sowing compost pushing the seed just under the surface. Place in a warm place and keep at a temperature of 21-24°C (69-75°F).

What to do Next

Once plants are 15-30cm (6-12in) tall gradually acclimatise plants to outdoor conditions for a few weeks before planting out, after all risk of frost has passed, planting at 30cm (12”) apart in welldrained soil in full sun. Note Cobaea scandens can be sown underglass as above but are best sown with the seed insert on its edge rather than flat to prevent the seeds rotting. Alternatively Ipomoea and Nasturtiums can be Sown direct into a weed free flowering site about 2cm (3⁄4”) deep where you want them to flower.

Handy Tip

Annual Climbers are great for planting through establish evergreen shrubs to add colour through the summer months.
