Where To Sow Ammi, Gypsophila And Sunflower Seeds

Sow seeds direct into a well-prepared flowering site about 1.5cm (1⁄2”) deep.

What to do Next

Plants do not require transplanting, simply thin out seedlings to stop overcrowding. Water during dry spells of weather, and keep weed free. For earlier sowings of sunflowers, sow indoors, individually in 7.5cm (3”)
pots at 20-25°C. When well grown, gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions before planting out after all risk of frost has passed in a well-drained soil in full sun spaced 37cm (15”) apart.

Where to Sow Dahlia and Statice

Sow seed in March or April on the surface of lightly firmed, moist seed compost and cover with a very light
sprinkling of vermiculite. Place the sown container in a propagator or a warm place at a temperature of 15-20°C (59-68°F). When large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into pots and trays. Plant out into borders when plants are large enough.

Handy Tip

Always try to cut the stems of flowers early in the morning, before the heat of the sun, and plunge the stems straight away into deep water and leave for a few hours, before arranging in your vases or bouquets
