When to Sow Golden Yellow F1 Pak Choi Seeds

May to August. Plant out June to September.

Harvest

Where to Sow

Outdoors: Sow thinly where they are to crop, 1.5cm (½") deep, directly into finely-prepared soil.
Can also be sown into modules filled with seed sowing compost and transplanted out, filling vacant spaces on the plot.

What to do Next

Keep well-watered in dry spells. Harvest unthinned as baby leaves, can also thin out seedlings or plant out modules to 25cm (10in) apart to produce mature plants. Regular sowings, made every two to three weeks, will ensure a continuous supply.

Handy Tip

For 'baby leaf,' pick a few leaves from each plant when 5cm (2in) tall, then allow to regrow for up to four pickings.

Chinese Kale Kailaan

Chinese Kale or Kailaan as it is known, is a chinese broccoli which would make for an interesting substitute to standard brocolli with your dinner. It is slightly tangier in flavour than regular broccoli. This is a white flowered variety and the name is Cantonese for Chinese Kale. The flowers, leaves and stem can be eaten but the stem usually needs the skin peeled off. It is fast growing, approximately 60 days from transplanting and can be sown all through the growing season.
