Success for Kings Seeds Horticultural Director - Andrew Tokely :-)
On the 2nd & 3rd September, Our Horticultural Director Andrew Tokely entered the Capel St Mary Allotment Show. The standard of exhibits were very high and the show had over 600 entries. Andrew Won 6 firsts with Courgettes, Marrows, Tomatoes, a Begonia, a vase of Zinnias and a vase of Mixed garden flowers. He also had 13 seconds, these included Runner beans, parsnips, Aubergines, Lettuce and the Longest runner bean class with a whopping 67.1cm bean (The Winner was only 3.1cm longer) and 10 thirds including a collection of vegetables and a collection of Salad vegetables.
Andrew Won the cup for the Best exhibit in the flower classes with a Begonia, just pipping his vase of Mixed garden flowers which included Spray Chrysanthemums and Kings seed raised Asters, Statice, Verbena bonariensis and Zinnia.
Andrew Was 2nd overall for Most Points in the Vegetable section and 2nd Overall for most points in the flower classes. Andrew also collected his awards for Best kept allotment and best kept Polytunnel plot. This was the Capel St Mary Allotment Associations 40th year and the show was certainly worthy of such a celebration, well done to all the organisers, exhibitors and visitors making it such a successful event.
