Where to Sow

If sowing in September, sow sweet pea seeds direct in flowering site at 2cm (3.4") deep. Later sowings in pots 5 seeds in each. October and November sowings should be sown in a cold frame. January sowings should be in a heated glasshouse. March sowings can be made in a cold frame. If sowing in April, sow direct to the flowering site.

What to do Next

Glasshouse raised seedlings should be hardened off during March. Plant out pot grown seedlings in April, direct to the flowering site with 15cm (6") between each seedling. Thin direct sown seedlings to 10cm (4") apart. Pick flowers regularly to encourage new growth.

Handy Tip

Provide sturdy support for plants. after a good rain a mature plant will be heavy.
