Planting Sweet Pea Seeds

Sweet pea sowing can take place from September to April, but depending on when you sow, may require a different method of planting. September sowings can be planted in the flowering site 2cm (3.4") deep. Later sowings can be planted in pots with 5 seeds in each. October and November sowings can go in a cold frame. January sowings in a heated glasshouse. March sowings in a cold frame. April sowings can also be planted direct to flowering site.

When to Plant Sweet Peas Out

Glasshouse raised seedlings should be hardened off during March. Plant out pot grown seedlings in the flowering site 15cm (6") apart in April. Thin direct sown seedlings to 10cm (4") apart. Pick flowers regularly to encourage new growth.
