Sweet Pea Brian Haynes

   Highly Scented   Good for Exhibition   Spencer Type

Brian Haynes is a highly scented and highly vigorous long stemmed Spencer type sweet pea which is lavender flake on white. Its stems are 30cm long with three to four flowers per stem making it an ideal choice for exhibition purposes as well as having an RHS Award of Garden Merit.


Kings seeds recommend sowing seeds into a good quality seed sowing compost and water only with tap water. Do not use butt water as this can contain harmful pathogens, resulting in poor germination

September to April

Where to Sow

September sowings in flowering site 2cm (3/4") deep. Make later sowings in pots with up to 5 seeds in each pot. Place October and November sowings in a cold frame, January sowings in a heated glasshouse, March sowings in a cold frame. April sowings can be made direct in to flowering site.

What to do Next

Glasshouse raised seedlings should be hardened off during March. Plant out pot grown seedlings in the flowering site 15cm (6") apart in April. Thin direct sown seedlings to 10cm (4") apart. Pick flowers regularly to encourage new growth.
