When to Sow Cupid Mixed Sweet Pea Seeds

September to April

Where to Sow

If sowing seeds in September, sow direct into the flowering site, such as a large pot or hanging basket at 2cm (3/4") deep. Sow later sowings in a 7.5cm pot with 5 seeds in each. Keep October and November sowings in a cold frame, January sowings in a heated glasshouse, March sowings in a cold frame and April sowings direct to the flowering site.

What to Plant Out Sweet Peas

Seedlings raised in a greenhouse should be hardened off during March. Plant out pot grown seedlings in the flowering site 15cm (6") apart in April. Thin direct sown seedlings to 10cm (4") apart. Pinch out the tops when the plant has grown 3 true pairs of leaves. This will encourage side shoots and stronger growth. Deadhead flowers regularly to encourage new growth.

Maturity

Late June to September

Handy Tip

Provide sturdy support for plants. After a good rain a mature plant will be heavy.
